UP Pilots – SCU Broncos

Motivation

Ruth is a Santa Clara Broncos fan. Joan is a University of Portland Pilots fan.  The University of Portland Pilots and Santa Clara University Broncos have the greatest rivalry in women’s college soccer, and maybe in all of U.S. domestic soccer. It’s a match up we wait all year for. This year, we’re doing more than waiting and have started talking about it.

• Maxine Goynes [ audio | transcript forthcoming ] - Maxine Goynes is a fourth year senior and former team captain. Listed as a forward this year, she has played up front and on the backline and logged significant minutes against Portland in the past three seasons. [SCU bio]
• Julie (Ryder) Juarez [ audio | transcript forthcoming ] – Sports information director for Santa Clara, and former goalkeeper for the Broncos (2003-2006)
• Brittany Klein – 2009 WPS All-Star with the Chicago Red Stars. Finished 2010 season with the Washington Freedom. A two-year captain, Brittany played at midfield for the Broncos from 2004 through 2007. [Brittany's blog | @BritKlein]
• Amanda Poach [ audio | transcript forthcoming ] - Amanda Poach is a sixth year senior, current captain, and as Cross-Conference followers know, a 2006 U-20 WNT player. Although she was drafted into WPS this spring, she returned to Santa Clara after being granted another year of eligibility. [SCU bio]
• Lisa Sari [audio | transcript forthcoming] – Assistant Coach and four-year starter for the University of Portland Pilots (2003-2006). Lisa also helped the Pilots win the 2005 National Championship. [UP bio]
• Keelin Winters [ audio | transcript forthcoming ] – University of Portland midfielder (2007-present) and captain of the U-20 US Women’s National team that won the 2008 U20 Women’s World Cup in Chile.  [UP bio]
